Yappy Days!
Mary,
I chose Hannah, my missing cat, to speak to.
What great things to say "May you be happy.
May you be at peace." Then the turn-around
"May I be happy.  May I be at peace." Mary,
you have given me a place to go with my
sadness and anxiety about losing Hannah.
Thank you so much.
I wish that I lived closer. I would be at your
doorstep.
Thanks again, my friend.

You might think your pets are self-centered little kibble-crunchers, mostly concerned with their own comfort and
convinced the world revolves around them. Actually, they’re very concerned about you.
That’s according to Mary Peeler, a McPherson psychic who mostly works with humans but also does occasional pet
readings. She was in Salina Monday doing pet readings at
Furrballs, a pet-oriented gift store that opened in
December at 118 S. Santa Fe.
(Furrballs is unfortunately, no longer in business)
That part about feeling like they’re in charge, she said, is true.
“Animals get very concerned about their owners,” Peeler said. “The animals don’t stay on themselves (during a
reading), they tell me about themselves and then switch to their owners.”
Peeler also said most owners are pretty in touch with their pets’ feelings, though there are occasional surprises.
“I had a dog named Roper — Roper told me he was not as smart as his owners thought he was,” Peeler said. “He also
said he had trouble hearing his owners, that they had to change their pitch. The only one he could hear was the son.”
Another surprise for owners comes from birds, Peeler said.
“Birds are very, very interesting,” she said. “They’re spoiled, but they love to complain about not getting enough fresh
fruits and vegetables.”
Peeler’s reading of Rudy, a 1-year-old gray cat, revealed little new to Salinan Eve Boyle.
“She told us, and this is very true, he wants to hunt,” Boyle said. “He brings us dead mice, dead bunnies. She said he
wants to be outdoors very badly. He lies in wait to escape when the door opens.”
One comment from Rudy that Boyle didn’t expect was regarding a tracking chip she had implanted in him after having
to bail him out of “cat jail” a couple of times.
“She said he felt that was very invasive,” Boyle said, adding she wasn’t sure if she believed in pet psychics, but she
thought getting the reading would be fun.
Renee Kleber learned from Peeler that her husky, Teaya Blue, prefers bagels to popcorn (but likes both) and also
likes the music in the house but would prefer it at a lower volume.
For the most part, Kleber said, “I pretty much felt the same things, but it was good to hear them from someone else.”
Kleber brought Teaya Blue in because of recent problems with weight loss and hair loss.
“She said it might be in her liver or pancreas — we’ll have it checked out,” Kleber said.
Cathy Ulman brought her dog, Madison, in not only to learn but also to have Peeler tell her pet a few things — though
it may not have done much good.
“I asked her to tell her not to bark so much,” Ulman said. “She said Madison wants to be heard and wants everyone to
know she’s a happy dog.”
Judy Huff, co-owner of Furrballs, said the store may bring Peeler back on a regular basis. They’ve also discussed a
regular pet psychic program on Community Access Television of Salina.
